Soft aim on Assassin/Gladiator — is it actually doing anything or am I imagining it

Playing Assassin. Ran soft aim for a week and honestly can't tell if it helps or if I'm just playing better because I'm paying attention.

Tab-target already snaps you onto things, so what is aim assist even adding for a melee class? Is this a ranger/sorc feature and I'm wasting a keybind?

It's not about acquiring the target, it's about the micro-corrections while they strafe. Melee benefit is smaller but real, especially on dagger range where a small desync means a whiff.

Bigger benefit is bone selection on jumping/flying targets where the hitbox moves vertically. Tab-target doesn't track altitude well, aim does.

That's the first answer that made sense.

Set smooth high though. Low smooth on melee looks like a bot twitching, you want it near-invisible.

Counter, at high smooth it's basically off. If you're not feeling a difference at 6-7, drop it entirely and spend the keybind on something else.

Trying 8 for a few days. If I still can't tell, I'll take Mace's advice.

Fair test. Don't judge it off one session though, you'll adapt to it either way.
